Delicious Vegan Sliders
How to make the cutest vegan sliders from scratch, with two different types of fillings so you can please a crowd
Dinner party and want to impress your guests? Our vegan sliders are the answer to your question. They are easy to make, filling and they have a great crunchy bite. Make vegan sliders so all your guests can enjoy them whether they are plant-based or not. They are full of protein, taste fantastic and can be adapted with the add-ons of your choice.
For our vegan sliders we propose two different patties: a crunchy buckwheat pattie and a delicious chickpea pattie. Top them with a slice of tomato, a little lambs lettuce for added freshness and squeeze a bit of mustard on top for extra flavours.
Our recipe for vegan sliders yields 16 mini burgers. We made our own brioche buns from scratch for if you are pressed for time you can use store-bought ones.
What are vegan sliders
If you never heard the term before a slider is an American term used primarily to describe a small burger or a small sandwich. Sliders can be served as hors d'oeuvres, snacks, or entrées. They are perfect for a dinner party or a gathering when you don't want to have a sit-down dinner but a more casual buffet with finger food.
Vegan sliders are the perfect finger food because everyone can enjoy them alike. This gives you less work to do and you don't have to worry that your veggie friends need their own separate appetisers. We made these vegan sliders so they are crunchy and flavoursome, so everyone can really love them.
How to make vegan sliders
You have two options: you either make your own burger brioche from scratch or use store-bought ones. We think homemade ones taste a lot better and they are fluffier, softer and overall healthier. They are also plant-based.
The next consideration is if you have to offer just one type of pattie or two different ones so you can mix and match a little. We offer you two options just in case: buckwheat patties and chickpeas. You can serve both with a bowl filled with roast potatoes on the side. You can also add mango habanero salsa, mango carrot salad and Italian grilled salad on the side.
Vegan Sliders Brioche Buns
To make the vegan burger brioche follow this link for the recipe. Important! Divide the dough into 16 equal small parts and shape each of them into a round bun. This way you will get 16 mini vegan sliders and not 8 large brioche buns.
Vegan Sliders Buckwheat Patties
Add 125 grams of buckwheat to 250 grams of salted boiling water. Simmer until the buckwheat absorbs all the water. It usually takes 15-20 minutes.
Transfer the cooked buckwheat to a large bowl and allow it to cool enough so you can handle it with your hands. Add the rest of the ingredients over the buckwheat and using your hands, mix it well. You should have a sticky mixture which can now be shaped into buckwheat patties. You should have enough mixture for 8 patties.
Heat a little olive oil in a frying pan and fry the buckwheat patties for about 1-2 minutes on each side or until crisp and golden.
Note: If you want your buckwheat patties to taste a little cheesy, add 2 tsp of nutritional yeast to the mix.
Vegan Sliders Chickpeas Patties
In a food processor, mix all ingredients and whiz until everything is fully combined. Shape the mixture into 8 small chickpea patties. Add a little flour to your hands so the mixture doesn't stick to your fingers when shaping the chickpea patties.
Heat a little olive oil in a frying pan and fry the chickpea patties for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until crisp and golden.
Vegan Sliders Assembly
Cut the vegan sliders brioche bun in half. Add a pattie, top up with a slice of tomato, a few leaves of lambs lettuce and 1/2 teaspoon of mustard. You can also use lettuce, shredded cabbage and ketchup. Use a bamboo skewer to keep the vegan sliders in place. Serve hot or cold.
