Fresh Homemade Citrus Drink
How to make a delicious, healthy citrus drink which everyone will love
Have a citrus drink a day to keep the doctor away it's my mantra. It's full of vitamins with tons of vitamin C, which helps have a brighter day. I also noticed that it helps my mood and I'm never as tired when I have my citrus drink. Although many recommend having a citrus drink for breakfast, I actually recommend that you take it during lunchtime.
In the morning, I enjoy my breakfast with coffee so I feel energized for the next few hours. Around lunch, however, my mood starts to flatten a little and I get a little tired after several hours of work. So I normally enjoy a large lunch with a big glass of citrus drink. It tastes delicious, it gives me energy and it's a natural source of vitamins. Try it and you'll become addicted.
What's the magical citrus drink?
My magical citrus drink potion is actually really quick and easy to make. It contains oranges, passion fruit, turmeric and a little peppercorn. Let me explain the benefits of each individual ingredient so you fully understand why (for example) I add peppercorn. It may sound weird but there is a very good reason for it.
Oranges - Oranges contain D- limonene, a compound that is said to help prevent certain types of cancers. It contains vitamin C (a lot of it actually) and antioxidants, super important to help boost the body's natural immunity. One citrus drink a day contains over 350% of the vitamin C your body needs daily. But worry not, too much vitamin C doesn't harm your body at all. In fact, your body naturally gets rid of any excess so no harm is done. [source]
Passion Fruit - Much like oranges, passion fruits are super high in vitamin C, But they also contain beta-cryptoxanthin and alpha-carotene, essential to help boost your immune system. It's rich in iron riboflavin (Vitamin B6) and niacin (Vitamin B3). And the best part is that passion fruit actually helps regulate thyroid activity in our body. [source]
Turmeric - Where do I even begin? For those of you who've been following my vegan blog for a while, you might remember the wellness shots and turmeric shots I created. I LOVE turmeric. I can't believe it's taken me so long to have discovered it. Turmeric has amazing benefits for your mind and body. Turmeric contains curcumin, a substance with powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. But it also helps your body create immunity, helps your brain function, helps prevent heart disease and more. Honestly, read all about it here.
Peppercorn - Right, so why peppercorn? I mean citrus and peppercorn is weird right? Perhaps, but did you know that peppercorn actually helps the absorption of curcumin into your body. The reality is that curcumin is not well absorbed into the bloodstream. Add pipeline (from black pepper) to the equation which helps the absorbing by 20000%. [source]
Magical potions right?
How to make a citrus drink?
This is the super easy part. To make a citrus drink for two, you'll need 6 medium-sized oranges, one single passion fruit, about 1 tbsp of fresh turmeric and 1/4 tsp black peppercorn.
Squeeze the oranges and add the fresh juice to a blender. Half the passion fruit, scoop the pulp and seeds and add them to the blender. Add the fresh turmeric and the peppercorn and blend everything together until you get a fairly smooth citrus drink.
Transfer to two drinking glasses and enjoy it fresh. Of course, if it's summer and you fancy it a little more refreshing, add a few ice cubes to the mix.
That's it, you are now ready to enjoy your citrus drink every single day.
Can you store your citrus drink?
Yes, you can. For up to 3 days in the fridge. But I really think you should make your citrus drink fresh, every day. It takes just 5 minutes, but those 5 minutes could be your time allocated to self-care. Just take deep breathes, take a moment for yourself and invest just 5 minutes into your wellbeing.

I love your healthy drinks! This one is new favorite! So refreshing!
Dear Pam, thank you so very much! We did an interesting test with this drink two days ago. We drank it every day for a week and we didn't feel tired at all. Then, a couple of days ago we didn't have a glass because we got too busy with other things. By 5 pm we were super tired from work and lacked energy. More than ever, I stand behind the citrus drink! It's magic. Thank you for taking the time to read the blog <3
