How to make chili oil
A quick and easy homemade recipe for the best ever chili oil
You love chili oil and wonder how to make an easy version of it at home. The good news is that authentic chili oil couldn't be easier to make. It's quick and all you need is a few basic ingredients I'm sure you already have.
We love making Asian food at home. We are experts in vegan ramen and delicious bao buns as well as special custard buns. Sometimes when we make Asian stir fry, we like to cook in our homemade chili oil. Not only it's tastier but it's much easier to make your food taste incredible.
What is chili oil
Chili oil is your favourite vegetable oil which has been enhanced with chili flakes as well as other ingredients such as garlic and ginger. Chili oil is straightforward to make in the comfort of your home, and it's much cheaper than when you buy it in a store. It's also tastier.
Chili oil is a condiment made with different types of oils and chili peppers. It's used predominantly in Asian cuisine as well as East and Southeast Asia.
How to make 5 minute chili oil
Gather all your ingredients. You will need vegetable oil (I used olive oil because I prefer the taste), garlic, ginger, cinnamon, star anise and some salt and pepper to taste.
Place all ingredients in a deep pan and heat up the oil until you can see the ingredients frying a little in the oil. It's ready when the ingredients become fragrant.
Simply remove the pan from the heat and allow it to cool to room temperature. Remove the cinnamon and star anise. Transfer your chili oil to an airtight container and use it as you need it.
We recommend using it for when you make delicious noodles. If you love spicy foods, fry your steak and sausages in this oil also.
That's it! Super quick and easy. Store it in the fridge and use it when you need to cook with it. I found that it lasts up forever if refrigerated in the right container. I normally use it within a month.
