Puff Pastry Asparagus Appetizer
How to make a delicious puff pastry asparagus appetizer in just a few minutes. Quick, easy and vegan!
Interested in creating a quick and easy puff pastry asparagus appetizer? Our vegan version takes just 15-20 minutes to make and is perfect for any dinner or cocktail party. Ever since we discovered vegan puff pastry in our local supermarket we became obsessed with these asparagus appetizers. We especially love that 10-15 minutes in the oven it's all that there is needed for the asparagus to become tender and delicious.
If you love a decadent puff pastry and also enjoy eating fresh asparagus, you are going to love this recipe.
How to make puff pastry asparagus appetizers
All you need is around 150g of asparagus (or a standard pack of asparagus from your local supermarket) and a sheet of vegan puff pastry. Simply cut the vegan puff pastry sheet into long strips.
Now pick each asparagus spear and wrap the pastry around it in a spiral.
Place the puff pastry asparagus appetizers on a baking tray. Brush each of them with a little olive oil, then sprinkle with sesame and salt. We used black sesame seed but you can also use poppy seed, sprinkle with herbs and peppercorn. The choice is yours.
Bake in the centre of the oven for around 10-15 minutes or until the puff pastry has risen and it's golden brown.
We recommend eating the puff pastry asparagus appetizers on the same day. If you wish to eat them the second day, cover and store them in the fridge. But there is still a chance the pastry might become a little soft and soggy. That's why it's better to make less on the day and enjoy them fresh.
An alternative is to prepare these puff pastry asparagus appetizers and store them in the fridge overnight until ready to bake them. This way you can enjoy them fresh.
